Shopping in Downtown Montpelier

A hub of commerce and activity, Montpelier serves central Vermont as a shopping concourse with shops for toys, art supplies, fashions, jewelry, and much more. Montpelier, itself, is diverse in its eateries, with restaurants serving foods from around the world. Retail shops in the downtown of the state's Capitol are no exception.

Many clothing stores provide an array of stylish attire ranging from the irreverent to the casual. If you're shopping for ladies fashions you will likely find that special evening ensemble or what would impress the boss at either Splash Naturals or Bailey Road. Onion River Outdoors and Slope Style Vermont also have a selection of seasonal fashions, as well as footwear, bikes, and skis/snowboards, depending on the season. Roam Vermont also has a great selection of sportswear and footwear.

You will also likely find the latest in tye dye and the irreverent for men and women on State Street, between the corner of Main Street and the Vermont State Capitol building.

Delish, Montpelier's local chocolateer and maker of sweets and licorice, and Magpie & Tiger that presents a collection of finer stationary and gifts are also both on State Street..

Just around the corner, down Elm Street, shop at Taste of Europe for imported coffees, teas, wine and foods from half way around the world.

If you're interested in shopping at a local bakery, visit The Manghis' Bread on School Street, where they do their baking Monday - Friday. Two other bakeries and cafe's, the Bohemian Bakery and the North Branch Cafe, home of a collection of finer olive oil from Alla Vita, serve gourmet coffee, tea and have confections to bring home.

Looking for a good book? Montpelier is home to Bear Pond Books that retails one of the largest selections of books in Vermont.

Montpelier has two dispenseries of recreational and medical cannabis, now legal in Vermont, both on Main Street, at Winterland Haze and Capitol Cannabis Co.

Grian Herbs Apothicary carries holistic and herbal medicines, teas, botanical infusions and more.

If you're an antique enthusiast with a fondness for good things from days past, J. Langdon on Langdon Street might be well worth the visit, as well as Buch Spieler Records and The Getup Vintage for vintage albums and clothing.

Capitol Stationeers on Main Street for more than 75 years, has a variety of keepsakes, cards, mementos and gifts.

For toys, books, and games for kids of all ages visit Woodbury Mountain Toys on State Street.

If you're shopping for professional and aspiring artist and crafter supplies visit The Drawing Board on Main.

And- don't miss the artisan's wares on display at The Artisan's Hand Gallery on Main Street, for a display of a collection of artisan's work available for sale.

Sign Design is a local premier art and digital graphics design business

There's more. Many more shops are just around the corner in the downtown.
