For arts and crafts there are two downtown locations that may have what you're looking for. The Drawing Board is a two dimensional artist's delight.  Meanwhile,  Jane Briggs' Yarn Shop carries an especially fine selection of yarn and knitting accessories


For sportswear, skis, bikes, etc., Slope Style Vermont retails a considerable variety of clothing, sports equipment and accessories.


There are many other specialty shops as well. The Cocoa Bean of Vermont is great for satisfying a sweet tooth while the Artisan's Hand Gallery presents a mesmerizing collection of Vermont artisan crafts from throughout the State of Vermont.


With most of Montpelier's shops within a few blocks, visiting the many stores that are there may not be as time consuming as one might expect.
