Bike Trails

Enjoy the city of Montpelier bike trails year round that extend from the very heart of the city to points predominantly north, south and west.

While spring, summer and fall bring a climate suitable for traditional peddling, don't miss winter Fat Biking on local trails. Don't have a "Fat Bike"? Local bike shops will have them in stock in late fall for purchase or rent. They are specifically engineered to handle cycling on snow and mud and are ideal for the rainy "mud season" so often touted as the end of winter that generally occurs in mid to late April.

From the downtown district bikers and hikers may traverse several trails in the locale.

State House Trail

Mount Hunger and White Rock Mountain Loop

Stone Tower Path

Winooski East Path

From the downtown district bikers may also ride to Stowe, Waterbury, Morristown and many other local townships with some trails partially extending along the Winooski and Lamoile Rivers.

Touring bike trail exents further than Hilly Look totaling 22.02 miles with a similar elevation. You'll also be able to cruise throught the East Montpelier State FOrest and peruse downtown East Montpelier before heading back to the state's capitol. Here's a map and a site for more information.
